Frequently Asked Questions
You will find answers to all of your most common Electrical Services related questions located here.
How long does it take to fix a transformer that blew?
A distribution fuse can take a few minutes to repair; a distribution transformer can take a couple of hours to replace; but widespread damage to the transmission system can take days, weeks, or even months to repair.
How can I lower my electric bill?
Your electric bill is based upon many factors, including how often you use electricity and how much of it you use. The simplest way to reduce your electric bill is to switch lighting, ceiling fans, and appliances off when you don’t need them. If you’re ready to take further steps toward greater energy efficiency, your options include replacing incandescent light bulbs with CFLs, upgrading your home’s lighting systems to use LEDs for even greater energy savings, and upgrading your current appliances and HVAC equipment to high-efficiency models. Intel electric can help you with these changes.
How often should I test my electrical equipment?
You should visually check for any damage or deterioration to your electrical equipment at least once a month.
How often should I get my electrical system maintained?
Call about every year to get your electrical system tested out for better maintenance.
Why do my smoke detectors keep beeping?
There are two main reasons that smoke detectors chirp: low batteries and a miswired or defunct detector. If your smoke detectors are chirping, change the batteries to see if this solves the issue. Smoke detectors that continue to chirp after battery replacement have sustained internal electrical damage or have reached the end of their functional lifetime; your residential electrician can repair the writing or replace the defunct detector to ensure your home’s smoke detection system remain.
